BORN AND BASED in Cornwall my inspiration lies in the scenes and experiences of every day life, a kind of observed reality. Buildings and locations have a profound and personal influence on me as a visual artist. Capturing a scene with its hustle, bustle, colour, vibrancy and excitement is of particular importance to me. I would describe myself as an expressionist painter who paints contemporary scenes from everyday life. Examples of this can be seen in my paintings of Cornish scenes such as Porthleven Harbour, Truro, Penzance and Coverack. I have also enjoyed painting urban scenes from my frequent visits to London, Exeter and Plymouth. Whilst recently achieving a BA Hons degree in Fine Art with Plymouth University I was awarded the Ben Hartley Prize for outstanding fine art. I have exhibited at the Southwest Academy of Fine Art Summer Open Exhibition 2004 and the St Ives Society Open Figurative Exhibition 2008. I have paintings in private collections in Cornwall, Brighton, Glasgow and London. |
